Uncertainty continues to surround talks between Inter and Liverpool, and Arne Slot did little to shut down speculation after his side’s latest Premier League win.

Liverpool ran out 4–1 winners over Newcastle United, but post-match attention quickly shifted to the future of Curtis Jones.

Asked directly about the possibility of Jones joining Inter, Slot offered a cautious response, via FCInter1908.

Curtis Jones to Inter? There is always a lot of talk about Liverpool and our players,” he said.

“There has been a lot of noise around the club in the last week. I think our fans showed today what real noise means. That is the noise we want here at Liverpool.

“We are trying to strengthen the squad. I don’t know exactly what is happening at this moment, but we prefer to strengthen the squad rather than weaken it. Let’s see what the next 48 hours bring.”

His words leave the door slightly open while underlining Liverpool’s reluctance to lose depth late in the window.

Inter, for their part, continue to monitor the situation as they look for a final attacking or midfield addition.

The transfer dialogue between the clubs may not be one-way either.

Liverpool have recently asked Inter for information about Denzel Dumfries, though the Nerazzurri do not intend to sanction a January departure for the Dutch wing-back.
