In a recent interview with Football Insider, former Premier League scout Mick Brown revealed that Liverpool have identified Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix as a target. Brown said,
“Lacroix is an option Liverpool will look at because he’s been excellent for Palace.
“All of the top clubs will be keeping an eye on him and whether he’ll be available, because top-level centre-backs aren’t easy to come by at the moment.
“The thing is for Liverpool, as far as I’m told, Guehi is still their top target.
“Obviously they missed out on him in the summer, but he’s still the best available option and one they absolutely have to make sure they get over the line.
“But there’s a lot of dispute over whether or not it will happen with the other club who seem to be ready to make a move for him.
“It will be very difficult for Liverpool to find a player who is as good as Guehi for that price, so are they then going to make a move for his partner [Lacroix]?
“I’m not so sure Crystal Palace would be open to losing both of them, so it won’t be an easy deal to do, but Liverpool need a centre-back and he will be an option.”
Lacroix is having a decent campaign at the London club after he put in a handful of solid displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The 25-year-old has played in 12 matches for the Eagles this season, securing one assist in multiple competitions.
The French talent has been a rock at the back for Crystal Palace as he has made 15 tackles, 13 blocks, 10 interceptions and 44 clearances in the Premier League. He has even distributed the ball well from inside his half, based on his pass completion rate of 87.4% in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the London club will expire in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for Liverpool to sign him on the cheap next year.
Lacroix is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to earn possession back for his team on the defensive end of the field. He usually clears his lines when required and can play his way out from the back.
Standing at 1.90m, the French sensation is a dominant presence in the air as well. He has already proven his worth in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at Liverpool.
Lacroix would add more bite and steel to Arne Slot’s defence. He is good enough to challenge for regular first-team football at Anfield.
At 25, Lacroix has got a bright future ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for the Reds to pursue next year. All in all, Slot would be wise to try everything in his power to get him on board this winter or at the end of this campaign.
