Arne Slot is crying out for a wide attacker with game-winning one-v-one quality and that’s why we’ve seen links between the Premier League champions and several widemen.

Now it appears that talks are under way between Liverpool and third parties involving the blockbuster signing of Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid.

Liverpool in talks for Vini Jr

The 25-year-old is one of the best forwards in the world game - weighing in this season with 17 goals for Los Blancos. But Vini is also approaching the final year of his current Madrid deal which expiring in summer 2027.

Talks have been deadlocked for over 18 months and Madrid are prepared to move the Brazil international on if no new contract is agreed.

There is of course interest in Vini from Saudi Arabia - but Premier League teams including Liverpool have now been contacted about the winger’s potential availability.

“Intermediaries have contacted Premier League heavyweights Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea regarding the potential availability of Vinicius Junior this summer,” a report in TEAMtalk reads.

It wouldn’t be cheap by any means with Vini set to gobble up even more of the wage budget than Mo Salah’s £400k per week deal.

Vini set for £500k per week contract

“As the Brazilian approaches the final year of his current deal, it is understood he is in line to move onto a similar basic salary to Mbappé—excluding signing-on fees, loyalty bonuses and performance-related incentives – which would take his earnings beyond £500,000 per week,” the report reads.

Right now it’s unknown what kind of transfer fee Liverpool would have to pay to land Vini. With only one year left on his deal it would significantly bring down the price however and the decks will be cleared in the wage bill via the exits of Salah and Federico Chiesa.

“They are unwilling to risk losing him on a free transfer in 2027 – meaning a sale would be sanctioned if a new deal is not signed,” the report reads.

“Alongside the Premier League sides already mentioned, both Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have also been approached.”

Vini has been at Madrid since the 2018/19 season - winning three league titles as well as two Champions Leagues. He scored the only goal of the game during the 2022 final against the Reds in Paris.

He looks set for a fresh start this summer however unless there is a sudden and dramatic breakthrough in contract talks with Madrid.
