Liverpool have made contact with Inter to ask about the availability of Denzel Dumfries, but the Serie A leaders are not actively looking to sell their first-choice wing-back.

The Premier League side’s interest has emerged, with reports via Goal, after injury problems on the right flank, with Arne Slot exploring options to reinforce that area before the window closes.

Dumfries, long admired for his pace and attacking output from deep, has now surfaced as a potential target.

However, the timing is complicated.

Liverpool ask Inter about Dumfries, situation complicated

The Dutch international has been sidelined for an extended period following ankle surgery, though he is edging closer to a return and could be back in the squad in the coming weeks.

Inter still view him as an important part of their plans, especially given the limited impact of alternative options in his absence.

For now, the Nerazzurri’s stance is that Dumfries is not on the market.

That said, like many clubs, they would at least listen if a truly exceptional offer arrived.

Any late departure would force Inter to move quickly for a replacement, with right-sided reinforcements already a topic of internal discussion earlier in the window.

Liverpool’s enquiry has therefore added an unexpected twist, but a deal would require both a significant bid and a shift in Inter’s current position.
