Liverpool Issue Strong Warning in PSG, Real Madrid Target Transfer Race

PSG caught widespread attention in England last season by capturing the UEFA Champions League title, knocking out Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Arsenal on their way to the trophy.

The French side also faced Premier League opponents in other high-profile matches, taking on Chelsea in the FIFA Club World Cup final and Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Super Cup final. That regular exposure to English clubs could make PSG an appealing destination for Premier League players thinking about a move abroad.

Even though the 2026 summer transfer window is still months away, European clubs are already mapping out their targets. PSG are expected to be active in tracking Premier League midfielders as they aim to strengthen their squad, but they won’t face the market alone.

Defensa Central reports that Liverpool want to avoid a bidding war with Real Madrid for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton and are ready to meet the Eagles’ valuation to secure a quick deal.

Since moving from Blackburn, the Englishman has drawn interest from several top clubs, including Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Manchester United.

This update follows TBR Football reporting that Crystal Palace have accepted Marc Guehi will leave in 2026 but are intent on keeping Wharton beyond this season.

Moreover, Crystal Palace recognize that retaining Wharton long-term might be challenging, but are weighing a new deal that would keep him under contract through 2027. The 20-year-old midfielder could fetch a transfer fee approaching nine figures.

If Wharton chooses to move on, interest from abroad is expected to be strong, with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and PSG all reportedly monitoring the young playmaker closely.

“Whilst not putting a £100m price-tag on Wharton’s head,” TBR Football’s Graeme Bailey said. “Palace firmly believe they have a player on-par with anything in the world for his age, and I don’t think many would argue. Palace know when he does move he will command a significant fee.”
