Liverpool’s focus in the last couple of weeks of the summer transfer window is on adding wingers.
The Reds have got a stated aim of adding one-v-one quality out wide - a necessary step even before Mohamed Salah departed on a free transfer.
Richard Hughes and Andoni Iraola have already masterminded the £34m signing of Victor Munoz from Osasuna. More signings are required however - particularly with question marks over Federico Chiesa and Cody Gakpo.
The 2024/25 Premier League champions can ill-afford to lose any more wide attackers without new faces being brought in.
Bradley Barcola is believed to be the No1 target - but Paris Saint-Germain are sticking with their £145m excessive valuation of the France international.
An alternative - or even a supplementary option - could be that of Ibrahim Mbaye.
The 18-year-old has been with PSG since the age of 10 - winning a couple of Ligue 1 titles as well as two Champions Leagues.
The right winger’s future is in doubt however with the double European champions willing to cash in for a fee reported to be in the region of €50m (£43m) this summer.
Liverpool will be right there for his signature so long as a deal can be struck - with French sources claiming that personal terms had already been agreed on a five-year deal.

The Athletic however is reporting that Liverpool figures are denying that an agreement has already been reached with the young Senegal international.
“Mbaye has also been discussed this summer but senior Liverpool figures insist their interest has only been exploratory to date and strongly dismissed suggestions that personal terms have already been agreed with the 18-year-old,” the report reads.
Mbaye is regarded as one of the coming forces in the game - attracting attention from Aston Villa and Bayer Leverkusen during the course of the transfer window.
The French-born forward is believed to favour a move to Anfield and it now remains to be seen whether an accord can be struck.
