Reds not likely to be too busy before deadline

Liverpool have wrapped up most of their transfer business, meaning a quieter Deadline Day is expected.

It has been a summer of change for Liverpool with Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson all departing on free transfers, while Curtis Jones left for a new challenge in Italy with Inter Milan.

Furthermore, Andoni Iraola has replaced Arne Slot as head coach, thus overseeing the signings of Victor Munoz, Ronald Araujo and Bradley Barcola.

Jeremy Jacquet, a winter signing, is up and running on Merseyside after an injury-delayed start, leaving the Reds well stocked in most areas ahead of tonight’s 11pm BST deadline.

That said, anything can happen on transfer Deadline Day, so further signings cannot be ruled out just yet.

Standard Sport takes a look at what could be in store for Liverpool in the final hours of this summer's transfer window...

After announcing the signing of Barcola, there is every chance Liverpool do not make another first-team addition today.

There has been talk of signing another forward, namely Ismaila Sarr and Yankuba Minteh, but that looks unlikely now that Cody Gakpo is expected to stay after being linked with moves to Manchester City and Tottenham.

A central midfield signing would be a dream for many Liverpool fans - and some former players - given the vulnerabilities that have been on show at the start of the season.

However, it has been reported that Iraola is content with his options and will look to get by with what he has until January at the earliest.

If Liverpool are to make any signings today, it will likely be with a view to the future as it was reported on Monday they had booked medicals for Lucca Brughmans and Djylian N'Guessan (both 18).

The latter would be expected to join next summer, while a decision on Brughmans is linked to a current player...

Potential outs

Giorgi Mamardashvili has the difficult task of trying to displace Alisson Becker and is attracting interest from Nottingham Forest.

Effectively, the Georgia international holds the landscape of the Liverpool goalkeeping position in the palm of his hands.

It has been reported that should Mamardashvili leave then Liverpool would bring in Brughmans to be Alisson’s understudy - along with Freddie Woodman - for the remainder of the season.

As mentioned above, Gakpo is set to stay but Harvey Elliott is free to leave after failing to make the matchday squad in the opening two games of the campaign.

The attacking midfielder has been in talks over a switch to LaLiga side Valencia and with less than a year on his Liverpool contract, a clean break seems ideal for all parties.

Federico Chiesa is linked with a Liverpool exit in every transfer window it seems but looks set to stay and the same can be said of youngsters James McConnell and Lewis Koumas.

Liverpool, as per the Athletic, will make a final decision regarding loan spells for Luke Chambers and Jayden Danns today, but Keyrol Figueroa has two offers on the table and is set to get a move.
