The Hungary captain joined the Reds back in 2023 from RB Leipzig for around £60m - and has since blossomed into one of the best midfielders in the world.
Szoboszlai initially agreed a five-year deal at Anfield - with his current terms expiring in 2028. Given his increased status in the game it’s only natural to assume the playmaker will want a sizeable increase in wages.
His current pay packet is estimated at around £120k per week - and reports in Hungary suggest that the 25-year-old will be looking to more than double his salary to around £250k per week or more.
And if they don’t accept the No8’s demands then we could see Real Madrid make a play to sign him either in summer 2026 or 2027 in a cut-price deal.

Szoboszlai offered an update a few weeks ago - admitting that no agreement had yet been made over a new contract. But Liverpool fans can breathe a little easier now with TEAMtalk reporting a major breakthrough has been reached.
“Talks between the two parties have taken place and quickly shown signs of progress,” the report reads.
“They are confident Szoboszlai will put pen-to-paper before the start of next season, with all sides aligned on the desire to continue the project together.”
