Real Madrid’s current troubles are putting Liverpool’s struggles earlier in the season into perspective.
A defeat to Barcelona on Sunday night in the Spanish Super Cup cost Xabi Alonso his job amid rumours that player power had once again accounted for a Real Madrid head coach.
Alvaro Arbeloa - a former Liverpool teammate of Alonso - has stepped into the dugout but has been unable to reverse the damage.
The Galacticos crashed out of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday night - going down 3-2 at lowly Albacete - in a game that is going to have widespread repercussions for certain players.
According to a report in Defensa Central the Madrid president Florentino Perez has seen enough - and four players in particular are set to have their fates decided.

Vinicius Junior, Andriy Lunin, Fran Garcia and Eduardo Camavinga are being made to carry the can for the latest Madrid humiliation.
Two more in the shape of Arda Guler and Dean Huijsen are set to be given another chance to prove themselves. But in the case of the aforementioned quartet the 15-time European champions are content to listen to offers.
And if Liverpool aren’t in the shakeup for Camavinga then they will be making a huge mistake.
Although the 23-year-old has experienced a difficult season under Alonso he remains a player of rare quality.
Capable of playing defensive midfield, a more attacking midfield position and even left-back, the France international would offer several solutions for Arne Slot’s squad in vital areas.
Under contract at the Bernabeu until 2029 it was previously reported that a bid of around £60m could land Camavinga. But with Florentino Perez’s latest intervention sealing his fate the left-footer could be available for a lot less than that.
It’s been previously reported that Liverpool recruiters are maintaining contact with Camavinga’s camp ahead of a potential summer move.
