Liverpool Misfit Not Pushing for Serie A Return

Federico Chiesa will be buzzed about again in January, like in every window since he transferred to Liverpool, as he’s not playing much, but the suitors will have to convince him that it’s time to transfer. He remains convinced that he made the right choice by joining the Reds, Fabrizio Romano reports (via Calciomercato).
The winger has made 11 appearances, starting twice, but in the Carabao Cup, for a total of just 186 minutes, scoring twice and assisting once. Liverpool added three quality attackers in the summer, Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak, and Hugo Etikité. They are eyeing another one, Antoine Semenyo, which would push the Italian attacker further down the pecking order.
Despite that, Chiesa doesn’t seem in a hurry to leave Liverpool. Teams would flock if he were made available. Inter have been trying to sign a speedy forward for years, Roma are always in the hunt for offensive reinforcements, especially for cheap, Noa Lang and David Neres only recently made a peep at Napoli, and Milan could use another weapon behind Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic.
The 28-year-old has refused the Azzurri call-ups this season to stay put to practice. He moved for €12M in August 2024, so the fee wouldn’t be a problem. However, his salary, €7.5M, is hefty for Serie A standards.
It’s a bit disheartening that he’s content as is while in his prime, as it was clear in the summer already that things wouldn’t go much better for him, considering his side’s signings. His transfer is already complex because of the sums at stake, even more so if he’s not fully bought in on leaving. He’d be particularly useful for Roma.
