Liverpool’s season has been disappointing, and the club will turn to the transfer market to improve this summer.

Despite spending over £400 million the summer after winning the Premier League, the Reds have struggled to string together good results this campaign and have looked miles off the standard they set in Arne Slot’s maiden season.

Both the players and the head coach need to up their level, but Richard Hughes and Co are likely to bring a few fresh faces in to boost the squad.

Now, Liverpool are being linked with one of England’s most exciting players, but they will face tough competition from Manchester United and other top sides for his signature.

Liverpool and Manchester United to battle for Bellingham

For many supporters, the midfield is the part of the squad that needs the most work and the Reds are reportedly ready to turn to the transfer market.

Several top midfielders have been linked with a Merseyside move in recent months, but one of the most exciting propositions is Borussia Dortmund’s Jobe Bellingham.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Liverpool are one of a number of clubs monitoring the 20-year-old Englishman who has impressed in Germany this season.

Bellingham isn’t yet the main man in the Dortmund squad, but now may be the perfect opportunity to sign him before his price tag can rise too much.

Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City are all also reportedly interested, so a deal definitely won’t be easy.

Jobe’s older brother Jude Bellingham is also reportedly back on Liverpool’s radar, but the 20-year-old has earned a place on the Reds’ shortlist in his own right.

The Dortmund man has become known for his ability to control the midfield, and he would provide some much-needed help for Liverpool in the transition between defence and attack.

Bellingham, who would fill a homegrown spot for the Reds, is an incredibly exciting prospect and fits the club’s strategy of signing the best young players in every position.

If Liverpool can beat Manchester United in the battle for Bellingham, Slot will have another excellent midfield option available to him to turn things around at Anfield.
