Liverpool must pay £80m to sign Brighton forward Yankuba Minteh | OneFootball

Liverpool have been told that Brighton & Hove Albion attacker Yankuba Minteh is worth £80 million, according to transfer reporter Jacobs Ben.

The Reds have had two offers rejected for the Gambian forward, including a £60m bid. However, Liverpool will have to offer more to sign Minteh.

They will only come back to the negotiating table if they lower their fee.

The Reds are desperate to bolster the right flank following Mohamed Salah’s departure.

They tried signing Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye but have been deadlocked in negotiations for weeks. Barcola is not a natural right-winger.

They turned their attention to Minteh, who bagged three goals and four assists in 34 Premier League appearances last season.

The Liverpool target is a specialist right-winger with Premier League experience. He is ‘unpredictable’ in the final third and ‘has a quality not a lot of players have.’

Liverpool should back away from the Minteh deal

Paying £80m for a player who has never delivered up to 10 Premier League goals or assists in a season would be wild.

It is even more bizarre when you consider Minteh is currently sidelined until November.

Liverpool need to strengthen their right flank, but desperation cannot become an excuse for overpaying.

Minteh has potential, pace and unpredictability, but his Premier League numbers do not justify a fee of this magnitude.

Liverpool should be targeting proven quality and immediate impact.

Minteh may eventually develop into an excellent winger, but paying a superstar fee for potential while the player is injured is an unnecessary gamble.

The Reds have already shown they will not meet Brighton’s demands. They should stick to that stance and walk away unless the asking price drops dramatically.
