Liverpool must raid Premier League rivals and sign 'exciting' star soon | OneFootball

Liverpool were linked with many different players during the summer transfer window.

The Anfield outfit needed to make a fair few changes to their ranks so that they could at least attempt to get back to the top of the Premier League table.

Of course, the four signings that the Reds made so far have massively helped them out but, as the season goes on, it's becoming clear that some changes are still needed.

Not only is that because there are a couple of problem areas among their ranks but, it's also because, with the number of players their rivals have signed, Liverpool seem to be falling behind.

But, since the transfer window is shut at the moment, no deals can be struck but, that hasn't stopped the rumour mill from turning.

Liverpool want to sign Crystal Palace star Tyrick Mitchell

Kostas Tsimikas and Milos Kerkez have been two of Liverpool's worst performers.

No matter which one of them is chosen to play, neither of them have really met expectations.

Indeed, Kerkez is still Andoni Iraola's first-choice but, since he's fairly young, he's still making a lot of mistakes.

This has led to fans demanding that a new left-back is signed and now, thanks to an update from TEAMtalk, Liverpool are being linked with a January move for Tyrick Mitchell.

"Crystal Palace left-back Tyrick Mitchell is attracting growing interest from Manchester United and Liverpool as he enters the final year of his contract, and TEAMtalk understands that a January move is growing more likely," they wrote.

"Palace are determined to retain their reliable defender and are understood to be doing everything they can to persuade him to sign a new deal. However, interest from elsewhere could turn his head.

"Man Utd are keeping a particularly close eye on Mitchell’s situation.

"Liverpool, meanwhile, have also been linked with a potential move.

"With questions surrounding the form of Milos Kerkez, the Reds are understood to view Mitchell as a solid option to add competition and depth on the left flank.

"His status as a homegrown player would also help with squad registration rules, and sources have confirmed Liverpool are interested and monitoring his situation."

Tyrick Mitchell is perfect for Liverpool

Obviously, over the last 12 months or so, Liverpool's performances haven't been all that great.

They finished fifth in the Premier League last season and only managed to make it to the round of 16 in the Champions League.

Indeed, they did lose to the eventual winners, Paris Saint-Germain, but, that's not the point.

Thanks to this underperformance, Liverpool have been forced to sign players and, even though they've already spent over £150 million on new players this year, more change is still needed.

With this in mind, many players have been linked with a Liverpool switch but, of the lot, Mitchell makes the most sense.

Not only is the defender homegrown but, he also has plenty of Premier League experience and, since his contract expires in June 2027, he could be available for a cut-rate fee.

Of course, he is 27 years old so he's a tad older than the Reds' usual targets but, since Tsimikas is set to leave and Kerkez could still do with a more experienced player to help mentor him, Mitchell feels like the perfect solution.

The defender has been described as an "exciting" player in the past and, right now, it feels like that is exactly what Liverpool need.
