PSG have focused on bringing in top French talent in recent transfer windows, adding players like Bradley Barcola, Désiré Doué, and Lucas Chevalier to their squad.

The club now appears to be looking at strengthening its defense with another French standout. Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté has been linked with a possible move, but PSG could also have another high-profile target in mind.

Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano will become a free agent after the 2025-26 season, and PSG are reportedly monitoring him closely. Recently, Sport Bild’s Christian Falk reported that PSG are monitoring the situation of Upamecano.

The Bayern Munich standout is seen as an option for the club, who could pursue a deal if the player were to be a free agent next summer. Securing Upamecano, however, is expected to be difficult given interest from several other clubs.

The Mirror reports that Liverpool are reportedly eyeing Upamecano as a potential alternative to Marc Guehi. Like Guehi, Upamecano’s contract is set to expire on June 30, and talks over an extension have yet to make progress.

Still, Liverpool aren’t alone in their interest for the defender. German outlet Bild has reported that Chelsea are among several clubs—alongside Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Inter Milan—vying for Upamecano.

Furthermore, Bayern Munich are reportedly in a “poker game” over the defender’s future, as they have yet to meet his wage demands for a new contract.

The club is said to worry that the French center-back could mirror David Alaba’s path, who left for Real Madrid on a free transfer in 2021.

Meanwhile, Chelsea see Upamecano as a crucial addition to bolster their defense. Bild also notes that Barcelona has expressed interest in the 26-year-old. Despite the growing attention from Europe’s top clubs, Upamecano reportedly wants to stay and extend his deal with Bayern.
