Liverpool travel to the City Ground on Sunday afternoon knowing victory over Nottingham Forest could put their top-four ambitions back on track.
The Reds head into the weekend sixth in the Premier League table, within touching distance of the Champions League places but still battling inconsistency.
With rivals dropping points around them, Liverpool cannot afford another slip-up on the road.
Both sides arrive buoyed by emphatic 3-0 wins in their most recent outings.
Liverpool dismantled Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup, while Forest began the Vitor Pereira era with a statement Europa League triumph away at Fenerbahce.
For Liverpool boss Arne Slot, there are still two routes to silverware this season, but the league remains the priority.
Liverpool have won four of their last five in all competitions, yet their Premier League form is less convincing, with just two victories in their last six top-flight fixtures.
However, those wins have come in their last three league games, offering signs of a revival.
Forest, though, have become something of a thorn in Liverpool’s side.
The Tricky Trees stunned the Reds 3-0 at Anfield in November and are unbeaten in their last three league meetings with the Merseysiders.
Pereira’s appointment has already sparked life. He oversaw a European win just three days into the role.
Seventeenth in the table and just three points clear of the relegation zone, Forest have lost only one of their last six league matches.
However, goals have been scarce at the City Ground, with just one scored in each of their last four home league games.
Forest are looking to complete their first league double over Liverpool since 1962/63.
Liverpool have won just one of their last 15 away league games against Forest (D8, L6), that solitary success coming in March 2024.
Forest are unbeaten in their last three league meetings with Liverpool (W2, D1).
Liverpool have won just three of their last 11 Premier League away games (D3, L5), though they are seeking consecutive away league wins for the first time since September.
Forest have failed to score in 12 league matches this season, with only one side faring worse in that regard.
Jeremie Frimpong remains unavailable due to a muscle issue, though Slot has suggested he could return to the squad next week.
Joe Gomez is now ready to start after substitute appearances in successive games, providing a timely boost in defence.
Wataru Endo faces a lengthy spell out after being stretchered off last week, while Conor Bradley, Alexander Isak and Giovanni Leoni are long-term absentees.
Slot also faces a right-back dilemma.
Curtis Jones impressed there against Brighton, but ‘special talent’ Ryan Gravenberch is expected to return to midfield, potentially pushing Dominik Szoboszlai back there.
Alisson; Dominik Szoboszlai, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil Van Dijk, Milos Kerkez; Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch; Mohamed Salah, Florian Wirtz, Cody Gakpo; Hugo Ekitike.
