Liverpool are preparing a new offer for Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola as they look to get his blockbuster transfer over the line, as per Ben Jacobs.

Liverpool have agreed personal terms with both Barcola and his team-mate Ibrahim Mbaye, while also holding discussions with PSG for the duo. Barcola remains their top priority for the winger positions, though Liverpool have decided to pursue Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh over Mbaye.

Liverpool began negotiations for Barcola by offering PSG €100m (£86m) and then increasing their bid to €115m (£98m). However, PSG rejected both of those proposals.

The French giants initially wanted €170m (£145m) for the attacker, though they have since dropped their demands to €146m (£125m).

When asked about Barcola on The Football Terrace YouTube channel, Jacobs replied: “I still think Liverpool will place a formal bid between now and the end of the window.

“Ultimately, if it’s more than Morgan Rogers, it’s more than Elliot Anderson, and it’s closer in money to the Yan Diomande deal, it stands a very realistic chance of getting done.”

Chelsea spent £117m on Rogers, while Anderson joined Manchester City for £116m.

Liverpool had targeted Diomande earlier in the window, only to see him join Real Madrid in a deal worth up to €140m (£120m).

Liverpool have decided £120m is the maximum fee they will pay for Barcola.

According to French newspaper L’Equipe, talks between Liverpool and PSG over the 23-year-old are ‘progressing’, but there is still work to do.

Their report reads: ‘L’Equipe understands that both Mbaye and Bradley Barcola – who is also targeted by Liverpool – feel that their respective transfer saga has dragged on for long now. The two wingers are not expected to be part of Luis Enrique’s travelling squad for their Ligue 1 opener against Rennes.

‘Negotiations are said to be progressing slowly between PSG and Liverpool for the France international, but they are much slower for his Senegalese teammate. Mbaye could even turn to another club with only ten days remaining in this summer’s transfer window.’
