Liverpool are prepared to sell Ibrahima Konaté (26) in the January transfer window if the France international defender isn’t prepared to sign a new contract at Anfield, according to a report from BILD journalist Christian Falk. The Frenchman’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season. 

The 26-year-old is yet to agree to a new contract with the Premier League champions despite long-winded negotiations. Liverpool are keen to keep the former RB Leipzig defender on Merseyside, but are seemingly not prepared to lose him on a free transfer. The Reds will be keen to avoid a repeat of the situation they endured with Trent Alexander-Arnold. 

Guehi to be Konaté’s replacement?

With the French defender potentially leaving Liverpool, the English club may have already identified his replacement. The Premier League outfit remains in pole position to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace despite their failed pursuit in the summer window, Sacha Tavolieri understands.
