Liverpool ready to consider shocking deal for midfielder

Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic has had a really tough time of it due to injuries over the last few seasons.

The 21-year-old made a decisive breakthrough under Jurgen Klopp back in 2022 but has been unable to establish himself as a consistent presence in midfield since then.

The Spaniard even went out on loan last term in an attempt to build up rhythm. However his initial loan spell at Red Bull Salzburg was a disaster - and he returned to Anfield in the January transfer window.

Liverpool ready to consider Bajcetic sale

A more successful loan spell followed at Las Palmas in LaLiga - where he was impressive but nonetheless unable to prevent relegation for the Canary Islanders.

There was some optimism that Bajcetic would be fit to resume a top-level career in the off-season but right now it would appear that his days at Anfield are numbered.

Trusted Liverpool reporter David Lynch has told Anfield Index that Arne Slot simply doesn’t fancy the Spain under-21 international - and adds that he wouldn’t be surprised to see Bajcetic conclude a permanent move away.

Decision has been made over Bajcetic

“One thing I would say, people are clearly asking about it with a mind on him coming into the first team picture,” Lynch says.

“I would forget about that now to be honest. I don’t think he will, certainly under this manager.

“But just generally speaking I think he’s not going to be in the frame. I know he broke through and he looked incredibly promising but those injuries have robbed him of an awful lot of football at a really important time in his career.

“I would not be shocked if once he gets fit he heads out, maybe on a loan but there’s also a possibility of a permanent there, because I just don’t get the feeling at all he’s in Liverpool’s long-term plans now.

“I think that decision’s been made a while ago so it’s just probably not worth thinking about him as an option for Liverpool going forward to be honest as sad as that is because I thought he was he was excellent when he broke through.”
