Liverpool are currently dealing with the contract situation of a number of their players.
The leading men in the dressing; Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all about to become free agents at the end of the season and as things stand, they are on their way out of the club unless the club agrees a new deal with them.
Another player who is facing an uncertain future at the club is Ibrahima Konate with the French defender currently not extending his contract at the club after the Reds made their offer to him.
According to Defensa Central (via Teamtalk), if the Premier League leaders are unable to convince Konate to sign a new deal at the club, they woud propose a swap deal involving Real Madrid star Rodrygo.
The Brazilian has once again impressed this season for the Carlo Ancelotti’s side, scoring six goals and providing five assists in 23 appearances in all competitions.
He is one of their most underrated players who can play in any position in the front three. His performances are often overshadowed by other stars in the team like Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior.
With Madrid looking to sign a new centre-back and Konate being one of the options they are considering, the Merseyside club could offer the French defender to the Spanish club and ask for their Brazilian attacker in return.

Konate has been a key member of Arne Slot’s Liverpool side this season and he is a huge reason behind their success in the Premier League and the Champions League under the Dutch manager.
The French defender is a reliable partner of Van Dijk in defense and provides them stability at the back.
Konate’s contract at Anfield runs out in the summer of 2026 which would force the Premier League giants to make a decision on his future this summer in order to avoid the chance of losing him for free next year.
Liverpool’s interest in Rodrygo could also mean that they are preparing for life without Salah.
The Egyptian attacker has been linked with a move away from the club to the Saudi Pro League and while he has stated his desire to stay at the club, he is not happy with the terms being offered by them and that could lead to his exit from Anfield.
