Liverpool’s transfer spending has taken them beyond £290m this summer - with sporting director Richard Hughes overseeing a remarkable campaign so far.
As part of the spree Florian Wirtz was added to the squad for a British record fee that could reach £116m. Liverpool are also ready to go to three figures for Alexander Isak - with Newcastle valuing their star attraction at around £150m.

And now there are indications that the Reds are considering a move for yet another player worth around that much.
Rodrygo, 24, has been deemed surplus to requirements at Real Madrid amid intense competition for places. The Brazilian is valued at around €100m by his employers - with the two-time Champions League winner’s contract expiring in 2029.
And now it seems his list of potential destinations is narrowing - with Manchester City joining Liverpool and Arsenal as prime suitors for Rodrygo.
Tottenham have previously been linked with the versatile winger - but it looks like their attentions have now shifted to Man City’s Savinho.
Thomas Frank’s side are currently undershooting City’s valuation of the Brazilian - but if and when they manage to strike a deal it could provoke a City move for Rodrygo.
That’s according to a new report in Caught Offside, which claims that Pep Guardiola has already spoken with Rodrygo over a move to the Etihad.
However, Liverpool - and Arsenal for that matter could also have their say. The Reds have been long-standing admirers of Rodrygo - first trying to sign him back in 2019 before he left Santos for Real Madrid.
And the latest reports indicate that Arne Slot’s side as well as the Gunners are still “keeping tabs on Rodrygo’s situation”, adding that “competition is fierce”.

However Liverpool fans should not expect both Rodrygo AND Isak to land at Anfield this summer. Indeed it appears the club will only move on to Rodrygo if they cannot land Isak.
“Liverpool, meanwhile, could step into the race if their pursuit of Newcastle striker Alexander Isak fails to materialise,” the report reads.
No doubt Liverpool will be hoping to strike a deal with the Magpies in the next few days for Isak. He is outside the squad at present - playing no part in the season opener at Aston Villa.
