Liverpool are on the brink of wrapping up another major summer signing, with Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez expected to become the club’s latest addition in a transfer worth up to £45 million. As reported by Mark Douglas of iNews, talks between the clubs have reached an advanced stage following three weeks of negotiations, and a final agreement is now thought to be a matter of time.
This potential arrival marks a continuation of Liverpool’s aggressive and deliberate summer rebuild. After confirming the high-profile signings of Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, the capture of Kerkez sends another strong message to Premier League rivals. The defending champions are clearly not resting on their title-winning laurels under Arne Slot.

At just 21 years old, Kerkez has already shown his quality in the Premier League, catching the attention of top clubs across Europe. Real Madrid and Manchester City were reportedly keeping tabs, but Liverpool have surged ahead thanks in large part to the player’s strong desire to join the Merseyside giants. According to iNews, “Liverpool have benefited in Kerkez’s case from the player’s desire to join the club despite rival interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City.”
This tenacity, combined with his attacking instincts and defensive intelligence, makes him an ideal fit for Arne Slot’s system. While Andy Robertson remains a key figure in the dressing room, his future is uncertain. As reported, Robertson said while on international duty that he was “not sure” what the future holds for him. With just one year remaining on his deal and Atletico Madrid interested, the timing of Kerkez’s arrival appears anything but coincidental.
Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes has been working meticulously on the structure of the deal, reflecting the club’s modern transfer strategy. As Douglas noted, “Negotiations are now focused on how the fee will be structured.” Bournemouth, firm in their valuation, have already acted swiftly to replace Kerkez by signing Adrien Truffert from Rennes for £14.5m.
It’s another example of Liverpool operating smartly in the market. The same strategy allowed them to agree a £116m package for Florian Wirtz, £100m up front with £16m in performance-related add-ons, rather than meeting Bayer Leverkusen’s initial £126m demand.

With the Wirtz deal potentially setting a new British transfer record, Liverpool’s intent under Arne Slot could not be clearer. The summer business shows the club building for both the present and future. Kerkez is part of that next generation, someone to push and potentially succeed Robertson while adapting to the style of play Slot is instilling.
As Mark Douglas wrote, “Liverpool looks set to strike a deal for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez this week as they send a huge £150m statement of intent to their Premier League rivals.” That statement isn’t just about money, it’s about ambition and maintaining their edge at the very top of English football.
Liverpool fans will be buzzing at this. Three major signings before pre-season has even kicked off? That’s how champions behave. Kerkez isn’t just cover for Robbo, he’s a serious talent in his own right. At 20, he’s got that blend of youth and fearlessness, and let’s be honest — who turns down Real Madrid and City unless they really want to play for Liverpool?
Slot isn’t messing about. His system needs dynamic full-backs, and with Frimpong on one flank and Kerkez on the other, it could be fireworks down the wings. If this deal gets over the line this week, the fanbase will go into the new season already thinking about back-to-back titles. And that’s before you factor in Wirtz feeding Darwin, Mo or whoever else lines up.
It’s also smart business. Bringing in players early lets them bed into the squad, learn the system, and make a flying start. For a side that thrives on momentum, that’s everything. Kerkez may not be a household name just yet, but under Slot’s guidance, that could change very quickly.
