Liverpool seal future of 'outstanding' star after surprise transfer news emerges from Anfield | OneFootball

Before the 2026-27 summer transfer window opened, many changes were expected at Anfield.

Liverpool delivered one of their worst seasons in recent memory during Arne Slot's last one in charge and, even though they still qualified for the Champions League, it was clear that a lot of work needed to be done to the team.

That is, before Ibrahima Konate even confirmed that he'd be exiting Anfield this summer.

So, now that Liverpool have to replace Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Konate, it's clear that the next six weeks of the summer transfer window are going to be rather hectic.

Unsurprisingly, some deals are already in motion with one of the Reds' players now being linked with a move away from Anfield.

Armin Pecsi is on the verge of joining TSV Hartberg

Armin Pecsi is one of the many Hungarian players that Liverpool now have among their ranks.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Milos Kerkez are probably the most well known but, this summer, Patrik Farkas is also making his return to L4.

The 2025-26 final was held in Budapest with many fans believing that the stars were aligned for Liverpool to make it all the way due to the Hungarian influence on their team.

That obviously didn't end up being the case with Paris Saint-Germain knocking the Reds out in the round of 16, just like they did the season prior.

Slot rarely played any of the Reds' youngsters so, unfortunately, Pecsi didn't end up featuring for the Reds but, thanks to his progression with the Under-21s, it was shared around that he could become Liverpool's number two this season.

However, thanks to a fresh update from Ian Doyle, that doesn't look likely to happen with the Hungarian now reportedly on the verge of joining Austrian side TSV Hartberg.

"Liverpool goalkeeper Armin Pecsi is close to agreeing a season-long loan move to Austrian side TSV Hartberg," he wrote via his personal X account.

Giorgi Mamardashvili's future at Liverpool now seems confirmed

Liverpool's goalkeeping department is arguably one of the strongest areas of their squad.

Alisson and Giorgi Mamardashvili are both fairly strong 'keepers with the latter of the two even being dubbed an "outstanding" player by Stephen Warnock.

But, since each of them have been linked with exits this summer, it was unclear who was going to be Liverpool's number one or even their number two.

However, when Alisson's deal to Juventus was called off by Liverpool and the interest from clubs taking Mamardashvili on a season-long loan started to dissipate, it started to become clear what was going to happen at Anfield.

At the start of the summer, Pecsi was linked with all sorts of teams such as Sevilla and some other European outfits.

However, now that Mamardashvili is set to stay and Alisson is bound to be Liverpool's first-choice, it's unlikely that any sort of changes will occur in Liverpool's goalkeeping department this summer.

That is, especially after the news about Pecsi's loan has just emerged.

Admittedly, the Hungarian getting regular game time will be good for him but, the thought of Liverpool having to rely on Alisson's fitness to keep Mamardashvili out of the net is rather worrying.

Here's hoping that Alisson and Mamardashvili can both get back to their best and prove why Andoni Iraola wants to keep them both at Anfield rather than replace them.
