Antoine Semenyo has become one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season, and talkSPORT’s coverage has sparked a debate over just how high the Bournemouth forward’s ceiling might be. With six goals and three assists already, only Erling Haaland has directly contributed to more in the division.
Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United are all monitoring his progress, and with a release clause reportedly in his contract, t he Ghanaian’s future looks increasingly intriguing.
Semenyo’s private coach, Saul Isaksson-Hurst, was glowing in his assessment. He described his client as, “just sensational. Box-office player. He’s got the pace, the power, the athleticism, but with the ball. That’s what he’s elite with. He can go left, he can go right.”
Isaksson-Hurst continued, “His ball striking is unbelievable. He opens his foot; he almost knuckle-balls it. With that control at full speed, it’s sensational.” For a player signed for just £10.5 million from Bristol City in 2023, his valuation has skyrocketed to over £75 million, showing just how vital he has become to Bournemouth’s best-ever Premier League start.
Semenyo’s teammates and pundits alike have been stunned. Justin Kluivert labelled him “world-class” after his display against Fulham, while talkSPORT’s Gabby Agbonlahor insisted, “I look at the league table, and name me a team he doesn’t start for on that left-hand side. Name one. He’s better than [Man City’s] Jérémy Doku. He starts for Arsenal. Better than [Gabriel] Martinelli and [Leandro] Trossard. Better than [Cody] Gakpo [at Liverpool]. Starts for Spurs.”

Jamie O’Hara argued Spurs should make him their marquee signing, declaring, “I’d love him at Spurs. I think they should go all out for him. Spurs is an amazing club for him, a massive football club, a brilliant stadium and amazing facilities.”
Yet Abonglahor questioned Tottenham’s stature for a player now targeting Champions League football. “Are Spurs big enough for him, though? Because he wants to play Champions League, and next season you won’t. He can do better than Spurs.”
Semenyo has already scored twice against Liverpool this season, and his ability to influence matches against the very best suggests he belongs at that level. With his release clause looming in the background, his next move feels like a matter of when, not if.
From a Liverpool fan perspective, Semenyo’s rise is both exciting and worrying. Exciting, because here is a forward with the pace, power and finishing ability that would thrive under Arne Slot’s system. Worrying, because his performances are drawing attention from every major club in Europe, and Bournemouth will not let him go cheaply.
The link with Liverpool is particularly compelling. Richard Hughes, who now serves as Liverpool’s sporting director, was the man who brought Semenyo to Bournemouth. That pre-existing relationship could help the Reds if they decide to move. The Ghanaian’s ability to play across the frontline, his eye for goal, and his resilience after the abuse he suffered earlier in the season make him exactly the sort of character Liverpool have historically sought out.
However, Liverpool fans are cautious. Spending north of £75 million is a significant outlay, especially with other areas of the squad needing reinforcement. But if Semenyo keeps producing at this level, he may soon move out of Liverpool’s price bracket altogether.
Ultimately, his performances will force a decision from Europe’s elite. And with goals against Liverpool already on his record, many at Anfield will quietly hope that if he is destined to move on, it is in red rather than anywhere else.
