Mohamed Salah has confirmed that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season and reports claim that he will walk out the door for nothing!
Despite having one year remaining on his current deal at Anfield, reports claim that an agreement has been reached for the Egyptian King to effectively “walk away” from his £400,000-per-week contract.
Eyebrows have been raised on that update, but if anyone deserves those circumstances, then it is Mohamed Salah.
However, it could still come as a significant financial blow to Liverpool.
According to journalist Ismael Mahmoud, the Reds could miss out on as much as €50m on a transfer fee for the 33-year-old.
“While the Saudi Investment Fund was preparing around €50 million in their plan to sign Salah from Liverpool in the summer, Liverpool reached an agreement to allow Salah to leave without a fee,” said Mahmoud.
“As Ramy Abass confirmed, there are nothing regarding the new club for Mo, even no talks till now.”
Despite Salah’s struggles this season, he still remained hot property for any Saudi Pro League side to land in the summer.
So the Reds may have missed on a big opportunity to recoup some money on his exit.
But after only costing £35m back in 2017 and going on to give nine years of relentless output and world-class performances, it’s hard to turn your nose up at that.
What matters most is that we appreciate every moment that we have with Salah between now and the end of the season. Hopefully his final chapter can still have an ending that he deserves.
