Liverpool are showing ‘concrete interest’ in Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush, following a prolific start to the season.
Marmoush has scored 13 goals and laid on seven assists in 12 league appearances for the Bundesliga side this season to attract interest from Europe’s elite.
The Egyptian international has averaged a Bundesliga goal and assist every 50.4 minutes. No player in Europe’s top five league has more goal involvements so far this season.
Sky Germany are reporting that Frankfurt are keen to extend the player’s contract but face a fight to convince Marmoush, given interest from leading clubs.
The 25-year-old is contracted to the German side until 2027, having signed a four-year deal when arriving from Wolfsburg on a free transfer in 2023.
Liverpool are understood to be showing ‘concrete interest’ in the forward, amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Mohamed Salah.
The latter is out of contract in the summer and there has been no progress on a new deal, despite the 32-year-old’s desire to remain at Anfield.
Marmoush is viewed as a potential replacement for his compatriot, though the Merseysiders could face competition for the in-form forward. Bayern Munich and Manchester United are also monitoring his situation.
