Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is nearing a move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal, as per a report from Sacha Tavolieri.

Hughes is currently managing Liverpool’s transfer window. His continued involvement at the Merseyside club was also evident with the recent managerial change. He brought in former AFC Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola following the decision to part ways with Arne Slot.

Tavolieri understands that talks between Hughes and Al-Hilal are at an advanced stage. However, the Franco-Belgian journalist adds that Hughes is not expected to depart Liverpool immediately. Instead, the Gulf State club are expected to let him work with his current club during the current transfer window before a move at the end of the summer, once the window closes.

Hughes, the former Technical Director at Bournemouth, joined the Premier League giants back in June 2024, however, his time on Merseyside could come to an end in the coming months, with a move to Saudi Arabia potentially impending.
