Real Madrid’s four signings so far this summer have acted as a great show of strength for a club looking to regain their dominance in European football next season.
But the job is not complete. Coach Jose Mourinho is constantly pushing the board to sign more players, particularly in defence and midfield.
It is no secret that Mourinho wants another centre-back while the Portuguese coach is also keen on a new midfielder, though that is unlikely to be entertained unless there is a major departure.
Nevertheless, Mourinho has identified three players who could be ideally suited to Real Madrid’s game, should they require more reinforcements this summer.

According to journalist Sergio Valentin (h/t Defensa Central), the two centre-backs Mourinho would like to sign are Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni and Benfica’s Tomas Araujo.
Bastoni, a left-footed defender, would add balance and quality to the backline, though Inter have repeatedly made clear they have no intention of selling one of their most important players.
Araujo, meanwhile, can operate as a centre-back or right-back and represents a younger, more attainable alternative, having impressed for Benfica in recent seasons.
For the midfield, the name Real Madrid like is Liverpool’s, Alexis Mac Allister. The Argentine World Cup winner would bring experience, control and creativity to the centre of the park, precisely the profile Mourinho has been seeking.

As things stand, the club have only one free roster spot, meaning they could make just a single addition without offloading anyone. To bring in both a centre-back and a midfielder, at least one more player would have to leave.
Real Madrid are open to letting Eduardo Camavinga go, even if the Frenchman himself has no desire to leave and is determined to win Mourinho over in pre-season.
The club also would not stand in the way of departures for Gonzalo Garcia while a loan move for Franco Mastantuono remains on the table.
Raul Asencio is another who has been deemed available for sale as part of the wider squad reshuffle.
Until those exits materialise, however, any further incomings will remain on hold.
