Richard Hughes has his work cut out for him this summer.

Arne Slot and his first-team squad have failed to meet expectations this season with the Reds failing to add any sort of trophy to their cabinet.

Most people thought that the Anfield outfit would be the team to beat again, especially after spending over £450 million but, if we're being honest, that couldn't have been further from the truth.

And, now that Liverpool are literally just scraping Champions League qualification, it's clear that even more money will have to be spent on improving their ranks.

To help them do this, several players have already been linked with a move and now, one of them could actually be on his way after the latest update on his situation.

Bazoumana Toure is on the 'verge' of exiting Hoffenheim this summer

One of the main players to be leaving L4 this summer is Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian King hasn't been in the best run of form over the course of the 2025-26 campaign but, that doesn't mean that it won't be hard to replace him.

Players such as Yan Diomande and Dario Osorio have been linked as potential replacements but now, a move for one of their targets looks like it could actually be on the cards.

As per an update from Sky Germany, Bazoumana Toure is now on the 'verge' of leaving Hoffenheim after they failed to qualify for the Champions League which has seemingly opened a door for Liverpool.

"After failing to qualify for the Champions League, Bazoumana Toure is on the verge of leaving Hoffenheim , as only Champions League qualification would have kept the Ivorian talent," they wrote.

"Several top clubs are interested, including Liverpool and Manchester United – Aston Villa and Newcastle have also shown concrete interest.

"There is no release clause, and TSG Hoffenheim are demanding around €30-40 million.

"The 20-year-old moved to Hoffenheim in February 2025 and quickly developed into a key player.

"This season he has made 30 Bundesliga appearances for the Kraichgau club, scoring five goals and providing twelve assists."

Bazoumana Toure would be an interesting option for Liverpool to explore

Although Toure isn't a player that most people will have heard of, he's been setting the Bundesliga alight over the last season or so.

The 20-year-old has been one of Hoffenheim's best players with the Bundesliga outfit doing anything in their power to keep him at their club.

However, since the Bundesliga outfit are not going to be in the Champions League next season and since there's no shortage of clubs vying for his transfer, it doesn't make sense for the Ivorian to stay put when he can test himself at a much higher level.

This season alone, the attacker has played across the front three and has contributed to 17 goals across all competitions.

There's still a lot that he could learn in order for him to become an even better player than he already is but, with all the experienced heads around him, this move feels like a no-brainer for Liverpool.

He'd also only cost the Reds around £30 million which is a fraction of what RB Lepizig would demand for Diomande.

The only thing left to do now is for Liverpool to make a move for him, lets hope that they don't let another perfect target slip through the cracks.
