Liverpool have stepped up their pursuit of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, with The Athletic reporting the 19-year-old is now a leading transfer target as Mohamed Salah is set to leave Anfield.
Leipzig want to keep Diomande for another season, a stance strengthened by Champions League qualification. An offer exceeding €100 million could persuade the Bundesliga side to sell. Liverpool are one of several clubs monitoring him.
“Of course, if you imagine someone saying you have to go to Chelsea or Real Madrid to do this job, you’re going to be happy and motivated to do more,” Diomande said. He was speaking to Bulinews.com.
“But I don’t think about this kind of thing because I’m trying to be focused on the pitch. Because my job is playing football, I leave everything else outside the pitch. It gives me a lot of motivation to see clubs speak about me. I'm focused.”
Diomande was named the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season after a standout debut campaign. He is set to travel to the World Cup with Ivory Coast.
