Liverpool fans have urged the club to make Yan Diomande the first signing under Andoni Iraola after his impressive World Cup debut.

The RB Leipzig winger has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, as a replacement for Mohamed Salah, with the Egypt international set to leave officially on June 30.

Last week, The Athletic reported that the Reds had opened talks with Leipzig in an attempt to reach an agreement for Diomande, who is thought to have a price-tag in the region of €100million (£86.4million).

For now though, Diomande’s focus is on the World Cup and he was handed a start by Emerse Fae in Ivory Coast’s Group E opener against Ecuador on Monday morning (UK time).

While, Manchester United’s Amad Diallo scored the winning goal in stoppage time, arguably the major talking point from the game was Diomande’s overall performance.

Operating on the right-hand side meant the 19-year-old was up against Arsenal defender Piero Hincapie, widely renowned for his one v one duel ability.

However, as per Opta Joe on social media, Hincapie was dribbled past four times against Ivory Coast, which is the most by a defender in a World Cup 2026 match so far.

For further context, Hincapie was only dribbled past 19 times in 39 appearances for Arsenal this season.

All of which has prompted Liverpool fans to call for his arrival at Anfield this summer.

“Diomande ripping Hincapie to pieces, Liverpool get it done," wrote TheHungarianLad on X.

Kop Connections wrote: "Diomande has Hincapie on strings."

Will wrote: "Diomande is absolutely rinsing Hincapie."

Stoking the transfer flames even further, Fae joked about Diomande’s future before stressing that no decision will be taken until after the World Cup.

"When we were in France, during the preparation, journalists told me he was about to sign with PSG," Fae said after the victory over Ecuador.

"Here, they tell me he's about to sign with Liverpool!

"I don't know, but for now, he will focus on the World Cup, and then afterwards, he can think about the rest of his career."
