Dominik Szoboszlai put Liverpool in front from a long-range central free-kick, his outside-of-the-boot effort clipping the right post as Gianluigi Donnarumma was beaten to his left.
Alexis Mac Allister then slipped in Cody Gakpo, whose close-range attempt was blocked by Donnarumma, the keeper colliding with his defender Abdukodir Khusanov in the process.

Liverpool broke quickly soon after. Following a one-two with Mo Salah, Hugo Ekitike directed a header across goal that skimmed past the left upright.
Play was halted with Khusanov down and appearing dazed after his earlier intervention. Medical staff came on to assess the defender.
The referee subsequently returned to the dressing room due to a radio problem, bringing a temporary stoppage to proceedings.
