Liverpool will be looking to keep their slim Premier League title hopes alive when they welcome top-four chasing Tottenham to Anfield on Sunday (16:30 kick-off).

Although both teams have slipped up in recent weeks, this Merseyside contest, which will be shown live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League, promises to be a thrilling affair.

Liverpool and Tottenham have been two of the most attacking sides this term, scoring 77 and 67 goals in the league respectively, but defensive frailties have ultimately stopped the pair from achieving their main goal.

‘Title still mathematically possible’ – Klopp

Just one win in Liverpool’s last five games has effectively ended their hopes of lifting the Premier League trophy for a second time, with Arsenal and Manchester City left to battle it out for glory.

However, the Reds are not mathematically ruled out of the title race and, until that happens, Klopp says there is “still a chance” his side can finish top of the pile.

Much has been made of the touchline clash between Klopp and Mohamed Salah during the 2-2 draw against West Ham last time out, with the Egyptian star’s future under question, but the German manager insists there is “no problem” and we are “absolutely fine”.

Visitors Spurs have their own concerns ahead of the contest, with three defeats in a row leaving them seven points adrift of fourth-placed Aston Villa heading into this weekend’s fixtures.

A Champions League finish looks unlikely for Spurs and, should Villa beat Brighton on Sunday and the Lilywhites lose at Anfield, a top-four finish will be mathematically impossible.

Ange Postecoglou concedes his team are going through a difficult period right now, but he insists he knows how to deal with the situation and that he still has a lot of work to do with the squad.

Liverpool vs Tottenham team news

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has been involved in parts of training this week and will have to be assessed closer to the time, but Diogo Jota, Ben Doak, Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip remain sidelined.

Conor Bradley has resumed training after an ankle issue and is available for selection, although he is likely to be named on the bench with Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back.

Timo Werner, Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie, Manor Solomon, Fraser Forster and Ryan Sessegnon are all missing for the remainder of the campaign for Tottenham.

Postecoglou is confident no new injuries have been picked up from the defeat at Chelsea on Thursday, though he did admit a few of the players are feeling the effects of that game.

The former Celtic boss was also asked about the possibility of resting captain Son Heung-min, who has scored just once in his last five starts, but he was confident the South Korean will be up to the challenge of another start.
