Spurs, without a Premier League win in 2026, face a daunting task on Merseyside
Liverpool face Tottenham this weekend in a huge Premier League game at both ends of the table.
Liverpool, locked in a multi-team battle for Champions League qualification, were beaten by Wolves in their last league outing and thus missed the chance to climb into the top-four.
In fact, defeat at Molineux saw the Reds slip a place to sixth by virtue of an inferior goal difference to Chelsea.
Arne Slot’s side have since gained revenge over Wolves to progress in the FA Cup, but did lose 1-0 to Galatasaray in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 showdown.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are in real danger of being relegated. Currently sitting just one point above the bottom three, this will be the first of nine ‘cup finals’ to preserve their status as a Premier League club.
However, a 5-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night made it six defeats in a row in all competitions, which means Igor Tudor has lost every match since he took interim charge and his task does not get any easier.
Liverpool vs Tottenham is scheduled for a 4.30pm GMT kick-off on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
The match will take place at Anfield.
TV channel: In the UK, the game will be televised live on Sky Sports. Coverage starts at 4pm GMT on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Main Event.
Live stream: Sky Sports subscribers can also catch the contest live online via the Sky Go app.
Live blog: You can follow all the action on matchday via Standard Sport’s live blog, with expert analysis from Sam Tabuteau at the ground.
Liverpool will make a late check on Alisson Becker after the goalkeeper missed the trip to Istanbul with a fitness issue. Slot has said he expects the Brazilian to be available, but should provide a further update in the pre-match press conference.
Federico Chiesa also missed out in midweek, because of illness, so it remains to be seen if he’s made a full recovery to take a place in the matchday squad.
Alexander Isak, Wataru Endo, Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley are all sidelined, while Jeremie Frimpong, Cody Gakpo and Andy Robertson are pushing to start.

Spurs head to Merseyside missing a host of first-team players. One being Micky van de Ven as the central defender is suspended after being sent-off in the 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace.
Wilson Odobert, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ben Davies and Lucas Bergvall are all long-term injury casualties, but Destiny Udogie could return here after a month out with a hamstring issue.
Tudor noted that he was not sure if Cristian Romero and Joao Palhinha will be able to feature following a clash of heads which saw Tottenham finish the Atletico game with nine men.

Slot should get his wish on Sunday, playing a team that is unlikely to set up in a low block in an attempt to frustrate his Liverpool side. So there will be no excuses for not creating chances aplenty.
Then it will be on his attackers to be ruthless and put a poor Tottenham team to the sword.
At some point, you would assume Spurs will start picking up some wins and ease fears of relegation. We just don’t expect them to get anything at Anfield.
Liverpool to win, 4-1.
Liverpool have not lost at home to Tottenham since May 2011 and are aiming to complete a league double over Spurs after winning the reverse fixture 2-1 back in December.
