Liverpool: Wayne Rooney expresses concern for Mohamed Salah
Liverpool's Reds have just suffered three consecutive defeats, and the pressure is mounting on Arne Slot's squad. Among them, Mohamed Salah is coming under particular scrutiny from Wayne Rooney.
On The Wayne Rooney Show, the former Manchester United legend didn't mince his words:
I think he looks lost. Great players often have a bit of an ego, and Salah has been among the best for a long time. But this week, I have doubts about his motivation. We know he doesn't always track back defensively, but against Chelsea, he let his full-back struggle without reacting. That was worrying.
Rooney, who played 559 matches and scored 253 goals for Manchester United, believes that the leadership of Virgil van Dijk and the senior players should step in to remind Salah of his responsibilities:
He needs to help. The dressing room leaders need to tell him: you have to do more.
At 33, Salah is going through one of his toughest spells since joining Liverpool. Perhaps the international break will give him the chance to turn things around when he returns to the club.
