After missing out on the signing of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guéhi, some Liverpool supporters clung to the hope of a future bargain—a potential free transfer next summer. While that possibility remains, the path to securing his signature has grown far more complicated.

According to a report from The Sun, the competition for Guéhi’s services has intensified dramatically, with European giants Real Madrid and Barcelona now entering the race. The England international, who captains Crystal Palace, will be eligible to negotiate a pre-contract with any club as early as January, ahead of a potential July 1st move. However, there is no certainty that his future lies at Anfield.

Complicating matters further is the stance of Palace’s head coach, Oliver Glasner, who has been a firm advocate of retaining his captain. Rumors even swirled during the transfer window that the Austrian manager might consider his own position if Guéhi were sold to Liverpool.

Although both the player and manager ended up staying put, the situation has reportedly placed Glasner’s relationship with club chairman Steve Parish under significant strain, adding another layer of intrigue to Guéhi’s unfolding transfer saga.
