Arne Slot reveals new update on Mohamed Salah ahead of lunchtime trip to the Amex
Liverpool will be without Mohamed Salah for this afternoon’s Premier League clash against Brighton.
Salah was restored to Arne Slot’s starting XI against Galatasaray on Wednesday and made amends for missing a first-half penalty by completing the scoring in a 4-0 win at Anfield, also registering an assist for Hugo Ekitike.
However, the one negative from an otherwise perfect night for the Reds, who will face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals, was Salah requesting to be substituted late in the second half after picking up a knock.
Slot has confirmed that Salah will be absent against Brighton and for Egypt’s upcoming friendlies with Saudi Arabia and Spain. Cody Gakpo comes in as a replacement.
Jeremie Frimpong returns to right-back, and Dominik Szoboszlai is back to his No10 role.
Joe Gomez was an unused substitute on Wednesday and Slot has confirmed that he is not ready to start against Brighton, but is on the bench.
It was announced on Friday that Alisson Becker had pulled out of the Brazil squad because of a new injury scare and the goalkeeper will play no part at Brighton with Giorgi Mamardashvili deputising.
