Arne Slot makes big selection decision for huge clash at Anfield
Arne Slot has named an unchanged Liverpool side for their huge Premier League showdown with Manchester City at Anfield.
Slot goes with the same XI from last we last weekend’s impressive 4-1 win against Newcastle.
That means Dominik Szoboszlai continues at right-back, with Jeremie Frimpong still out with his groin injury and Joe Gomez not ready to return.
Curtis Jones was an option to come into the team but Slot goes with Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister in midfield behind in-form Florian Wirtz.
Hugo Ekitike agains leads the line, with Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo on the wings.
Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are at centre-back and Milos Kerkez is at left-back.
Slot said on Friday that he hoped Gomez could be on the bench after two games out with a knock.
“With Joe, we have a little bit of hope that he might train Saturday,” said Slot. “So, not available to start but maybe available to help the team if needed during the game because, as you already know, there are not that many defenders available at the moment.”
But Gomez is not in the squad.
Conor Bradley, Alexander Isak and Giovanni Leoni all remain sidelined.
