Liverpool youngster Lewis Koumas has been really impressive on loan for Stoke City this season, and the Reds fans will be excited by his progress.
The 19-year-old joined Stoke City on loan during the summer. The Reds felt that the highly-exciting young talent needs time elsewhere and a loan move would be ideal for his development.
He has made 27 appearances in the Championship this season, of which he started in 22 games. He has also made four appearances in the Carabao Cup and started in the FA Cup against Cardiff City on Saturday.
The versatile attacking midfielder six goals and provided three assists in all competitions, including a top-quality performance against Cardiff.
Stoke eventually lost on penalties, but club manager Mark Robins was full of praise for the young attacker.
“I thought we showed a brilliant character on the back of that [going down 2-0 early in the game] and worked our way into a 2-1 with a brilliant move and brilliant goal from Lewis Koumas”, Robins told Stoke City’s media.
“I thought that sort of typifies everything that we want from him and know he is capable of and then he gets his second and brings us back to level.”
Arne Slot will be very pleased with the progress of both Koumas and Ben Doak this season, and the duo should look to impress the Reds manager in the pre-season training.
There is no better feeling that playing for the senior team after progressing from the academy ranks, and Koumas is one of the players who has the potential to make the senior grade.
He has already made his senior debut under Jurgen Klopp, and the club must give these youngsters chances to shine.
What has been really impressive is that Koumas has played in several positions this season for Stoke City. He has played across all positions in the attacking midfield areas and also played as a striker.
The Reds fans will hope that he ends the season on a high and get more goals and assists under his belt. He is a terrific young talent, and his progress should excite everyone at the club.
