It’s long been reported that Yan Diomande was among Liverpool’s top summer transfer targets.

The 19-year-old winger has enjoyed a terrific breakout campaign in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig. Diomande joined the Red Bulls from Leganes for a bargain £18m fee last summer - inking a deal until 2030.

No one could have imagined his rookie season going any better - assisting the German club in re-qualifying for the Champions League.

In the process the Ivory Coast international has become one of the most coveted players on the market. Given his long contract duration - and consistent performances - Leipzig feel entitled to ask for €100m in order to part ways with their star turn.

Liverpool will be right at the front of the queue should Red Bull decide to do business - but right now doubts are emerging over the viability of the deal.

Diomande wants to STAY at Leipzig

It’s being reported in TEAMtalk that Diomande is happy to stay at Leipzig for one more season at least with the club set to reward the young African star with a bumper new contract.

“Diomande is increasingly open to remaining at Leipzig for at least another 12 months,” the report reads.

“The teenager is believed to have loved both life in Germany and the environment within the Red Bull system, with those around him convinced his development is still accelerating rapidly.

“Leipzig would welcome Diomande staying for at least another season as they continue building around him following his remarkable first campaign, and they would reward with him a bumper new contract.”
