Federico Chiesa could return to Serie A in January, with three clubs monitoring a situation that has not improved at Liverpool.

According to Calciomercato.it, the winger is in his third season in England and still struggling for minutes. Inter, Atalanta and Lazio are all following his position closely and could make an approach in the winter window, though no concrete negotiations are underway.

Chiesa eyeing an Italy return

The motivation is as much international as domestic. Chiesa has not featured in Roberto Mancini’s squads during the new coach’s opening fixtures, and regular football would give him a route back into the Azzurri reckoning before 2028.

That timing matters as Italy are rebuilding after a third consecutive World Cup absence, and Mancini has leaned heavily on younger options, nine uncapped players were named in his first squad. A fit, in-form Chiesa would offer something the current group largely lacks: a wide forward with genuine tournament experience.

Of the three suitors, the fit varies. Inter are well stocked in attack under Cristian Chivu, Atalanta have historically rehabilitated players in exactly this position, and Lazio’s excellent start under Gennaro Gattuso has been built on a settled front line rather than squad depth.

Nothing is advanced, and much will depend on whether Liverpool are willing to let him go mid-season.
