Liverpool's ideal transfer has just been put up for sale. One the Reds can't afford to miss out on.

Liverpool are a complete mess at centre-back right now. Their future is sound - so maybe 'complete' is strong - but it's anyone's guess what their options will look like next season, let alone the next.

Ibrahima Konate's contract expires this summer and it looks unlikely that he gets a new deal. Joe Gomez was nearly sold in the summer and enters the final year of his own deal in July.

Virgil van Dijk, too, will only have a year remaining on his contract. All three could be gone in 2027.

Thus Liverpool simply need senior defenders. Giovanni Leoni and Jeremy Jacquet are incredible talents but capable of leading an elite defence? Not at 19 and 20, surely.

A major signing must be on the way.

Alessandro Bastoni made available

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Inter are now willing to sell Alessandro Bastoni. The defender is one of the most sought-after in European football and Liverpool have consistently been linked.

Inter, though, haven't wanted to sell - and understandably so. That now appears to have changed and they're chasing funds for the upcoming transfer window.

Thus selling the 27-year-old Bastoni while his value is high would represent a smart move. Or at least, they see it that way.
