Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho: Ready to Make His Mark on Pre-Season Tour

Fabio Carvalho is poised to seize the opportunity to solidify his place in Liverpool’s squad during their tour of America. This pre-season is crucial for the 21-year-old attacker, who aims to catch the eye of manager Arne Slot.

Mixed Fortunes and New Beginnings

After a challenging loan spell last season, Carvalho’s journey has been one of ups and downs. His stint at RB Leipzig in Germany saw limited game time, but a move to Hull City in the second half of the campaign revived his confidence. Carvalho made 20 appearances in the Championship, showing glimpses of his potential.

Determination to Impress

Now back at Liverpool, Carvalho is eager to make a strong impression. He acknowledges the importance of this pre-season under the new management of Arne Slot. Carvalho shared, “I’ve had a few conversations with the manager which I’m not going to go into detail about, but he wants me to get my head down and work hard and see where that goes.”

Carvalho views this tour as a prime opportunity for Liverpool’s young talents. “It’s about making a statement. There are good chances for all the young players on this trip. It’s a chance for everyone to stamp their mark,” he stated.

Reflecting on Hull City

Carvalho credits his time at Hull City as a pivotal period in his career. “The time I spent at Hull was crucial. I needed game time and I was happy when I was playing regularly. Every footballer wants to be playing week in and week out. I feel I got the best of myself when I was there and playing,” he explained.

Finding His Position

In Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Real Betis in Pittsburgh, Carvalho was deployed on the left wing, but he prefers a more central role. “We spoke about it and he (Slot) told me to try and settle on the wing, but obviously I know where I play best and I feel that is as a No 10. I think I play better there,” he noted.

Despite this, Carvalho remains committed to Slot’s vision. “I’m just going to do what he wants me to do and just work as hard as I can for him. He’s giving me good instructions and motivating me a lot in training and giving me that confidence,” he said.

Positive Football Under Slot

Carvalho is optimistic about Slot’s approach to the game. “It was good to play against Betis and get a few touches, good to be back in. I feel like the manager’s style is a good fit for all of us. I feel like he plays positive football, he likes creating chances and that’s what we’ve been doing,” he added.

With the pre-season tour underway, Fabio Carvalho is set on proving his worth and securing a significant role in Liverpool’s upcoming season.
