Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike (23) has undergone surgery after rupturing his right Achilles tendon during the Reds’ Champions League exit at the hands on PSG on Tuesday, April 14. L’Equipe reports that the France international has been operated on in London five days ago – on Saturday, April 18 – by a medical team with a long history of working with Liverpool players.

The outlet adds that the medical procedure was remotely supervised by the same surgeon who operated on Jayson Tatum, the Boston Celtics power forward, who suffered a similar injury a year ago.

Ekitike is expected to return to competition for the second half of the 2026-2027 campaign, given that a recovery period of eight to ten months is the norm for this kind of injury.
