Trent Alexander-Arnold exiting Liverpool last summer caused a fair few problems.

The Englishman was easily one of the Reds' most creative players and, even though he wasn't the best defensively, he more than made up for it in attack.

Him and Andy Robertson formed a rather dynamic partnership which saw them become two of the Premier League's best full-backs in recent memory.

Of course, Jeremie Frimpong was brought in to replace the Englishman, he's still not managed to live up to expectations.

So, this has led to many new right-backs being linked with a Liverpool move and, even though Ronald Araujo has got that position locked down at the moment, since his transfer is only a season-long loan deal with an option to buy, his future isn't guaranteed.

Givairo Read could easily become Liverpool's next Trent Alexander-Arnold

One of the things that Liverpool miss out on with Araujo at right-back is creativity.

Although the full-back is extremely strong in defence, every time he goes on the attack, he rarely beats the first man with his crosses.

Indeed, this probably has a lot to do with the fact that his natural position is centre-back but and, even though he's doing well, Liverpool need their players to be able to do both.

That's why Liverpool's recent links with Givairo Read should excite fans.

Not only is the Dutchman strong in defence but, this season alone, he's already managed to earn himself five assists in the Eredivisie.

He's quickly become one of Feyenoord's most important players which has then led to many of the world's biggest clubs being linked with a move for him.

Admittedly, Alexander-Arnold wasn't all that great in defence so the similarities between him and Read lie mainly in attack but, with how important the Englishman was to Jurgen Klopp's success, Andoni Iraola bringing Read in could help Liverpool massively.

The fact that Read is attracting all this interest despite only being 20 years old proves how good he actually is.

Feyenoord know that they have a gem on their hands and were probably surprised to not see many bids come through for him.

At the moment, the Eredivisie outfit are wanting around €33 million (£28.3 million) for the youngster which, for a player of his quality, feels like a very small fee.

Obviously, if he continues in this purple patch of form up until the January transfer window, that asking price is likely to sky rocket.

However, for now, it feels like a very reasonable fee.

Signing Read would mean that Liverpool would have to make a decision on the futures of Araujo, Frimpong and even Conor Bradley.

As, even though all three are good players in their own right, they couldn't justify having four right-backs among their ranks.

At the moment, it's anyone's guess what could happen but, for now, Liverpool signing Read certainly feels like the best move for them, especially if they finally want to replace Alexander-Arnold.
