The 2026-27 summer transfer window isn't even open yet and and endless amount of rumours have already started to emerge.

Liverpool are clearly gearing themselves up for another summer of change with Arne Slot and Richard Hughes having to try and find replacements for Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah.

Both of the aforementioned duo have become part of the furniture at Anfield but, seeing as though the Reds now want to fill their squad with young players who have plenty of potential, the right-winger and the left back didn't quite make the cut.

And, although Liverpool already have a ready-made replacement for Milos Kerkez's back-up in Kostas Tsimikas, they're severely lacking on attackers.

Many strikers and wingers have already been linked with a switch but now, it seems like one of Slot's top targets has chosen against joining the reigning Premier League champions.

Anthony Gordon would prefer a move outside of the Premier League this summer

Anthony Gordon has been on Liverpool's shortlist ever since he played for Everton.

The Englishman has been one of Newcastle's best signings over the last few years with the attacker going from strength to strength under the guidance of Eddie Howe.

Although his natural position is on the left-wing, Howe has used him as more of a striker this term which proves how much versatility he has in his locker.

A move for the 25-year-old felt like it was off the table as both Gordon and Newcastle seemed happy with his performances.

However, due to the PSR constraints hanging over the Magpies' heads, they're now looking to move him on with a fresh report now detailing what the winger sees happening in his future.

"Anthony Gordon has top options in the Premier League. However, his preference is a move abroad - a new challenge. If so, then FC Bayern is his desired destination," Florian Plettenberg wrote via his personal X account.

"Bayern are offering a top contract until 2031. The bosses Dreesen/Eberl are talking directly with Newcastle.

"Bayern are currently offering €60m. Newcastle United have not yet lowered their demands. No agreement in sight at this stage."

Liverpool must do everything in their power to get Anthony Gordon to change his mind

As mentioned, Gordon has been on Liverpool's shortlist for as long as many can remember.

The Englishman is probably going to be called up to Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad and will be mainly used as Harry Kane's back-up.

However, the fact that he can be moved onto either wing and the fact that he's already contributed to 22 goals across all competitions this season proves how much of an asset he could be.

Alexander Isak was obviously Liverpool's marquee signing last term but, since he's not been unleashed yet due to injuries, it feels like bringing Gordon into the equation could help make things a bit easier for him.

Indeed, Hugo Ekitike is expected to return to the pitch by January so another number nine maybe isn't exactly what Slot needs.

But, since Gordon is English, would be available for around £69 million and has already proven himself to be a Premier League level player, it feels like a no-brainer for the Reds to make a move for him.
