Ibrahima Konaté’s future at Liverpool is increasingly unclear, with PSG and Real Madrid among the clubs reportedly keeping tabs on him. As he approaches the final months of his contract, Konaté is set to become a free agent in June 2026.
Liverpool has yet to secure a contract extension, fueling speculation about his next move. Starting January 1, he will be free to negotiate a pre-contract with other teams.
Foot Mercato has reported that several top European clubs, including PSG, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, have been tracking Konaté. Liverpool chose to keep him last summer rather than entertain offers.
However, The Athletic recently suggested that Real Madrid’s long-standing interest may be waning, partly due to inconsistent performances.

TEAMtalk reports, citing sources, that Liverpool are still facing an uncertain situation with the French defender. Furthermore, the outlet’s transfer insider Dean Jones shared why the Reds might hold onto the player rather than selling him in a few days when the January transfer window opens.
“Too many new signings is part of the problem in terms of the team gelling so to now lose Konaté in January, even when he hasn’t been playing that well, actually would bring about new problems,” Jonesa said. “So I don’t think they will try to sell him – I think they will only lose him if they reach a stage where finding an agreement has become impossible.”
