Newcastle United welcomed Liverpool at St. James’ Park earlier tonight as they hoped to earn a win at home in the Premier League. The Magpies made a slow start to the game and conceded the opening goal in the 35th minute when Ryan Gravenberch scored with a deflected effort. Anthony Gordon received a red card from the referee in the latter stages of the first half after his reckless challenge on Virgil Van Dijk. Eddie Howe’s men went into the half-time interval 1-0 down on the scoreline.

Hugo Ekitike doubled his team’s lead in the 46th minute. However, Bruno Guimaraes scored Newcastle’s first goal with a good header in the 57th minute before William Osula equalised for the Magpies in the 88th minute. However, the ten men of Newcastle suffered late heartbreak as Rio Ngumoha scored a dramatic winner in injury time. The match finished with the Tyneside club suffering a tough 3-2 loss at St. James’ Park.
