Luis Lobo Medina has been reported over alleged manipulation of the 12 October 2021 Tigre v Mitre match, which finished 3-3, after a leaked chat emerged involving him and Juan Pablo Beacon, a friend of Pablo Toviggino, in a scandal touching the AFA. According to SuperDepor.com, the exchange suggests attempts to influence the result.

The game is under scrutiny for two moments. Corda of Mitre was sent off after 27 minutes of the first half, then Tigre were awarded a hotly disputed second half penalty, converted by Magnín to make it 3-3.

The alleged messages show Beacon contacting Lobo Medina to favour Tigre. Medina is said to acknowledge he had to work hard because Tigre played poorly, while Beacon praises the referee and says his friend was satisfied.

The exchange ends with Lobo Medina asking for 400,000 pesos, approximately 2,000 dollars in 2021.

Following the leak, Buenos Aires legislator Juan Facundo del Gaiso filed a complaint against Lobo Medina and Beacon for the possible commission of offences against private property.

The row has grown as Lobo Medina has been appointed for tonight’s Banfield v Tigre match, the fixture for matchweek 12 of the Liga Profesional de Fútbol Apertura. The referees’ union SADRA has urgently requested a change so he does not take charge of the Tigre fixture.
