Beginning with her football journey, she recalls how a kickabout with her dad led to an opportunity to join a junior club.

“I was only four but my mum says after that, I only ever wanted to play football,” says Lohmann.

“Later, I would play in free for all games with older boys where you had to score or be knocked out of the contest.

“I don’t think I was ever the last person standing, but I enjoyed it and it helped me develop my skills.”

The above game, in the UK, is known as ‘Wembley’ for the record!

Lohmann, who spent eight years with Bayern Munich before joining City in 2025, also discusses the difficulties she faced finding a club, before revealing her skillset started to open a few doors.

“I’d never played against other girls so only thought I’d be playing against boys in the beginning,” she says.

“100% that helped me such a lot, and of course you have to feel comfortable, but you find your way through as time goes on, and become more resilient because it’s harder.”

Lohmann spent a total of nine years with Bayern Munich, joining as a 16-year-old, growing with the club as it became more professional and successful.

“To begin with we were in a different place - not the Bayern Campus of today - and it was so unprofessional in many ways,” she said.

“But to start there and grow with the club was really cool and makes me really proud.

“I always trained with the first team and I think I knew I was good, but there was a lot of great players and getting playing time was tough, so I had to consider whether I needed to go somewhere else to play, but I’m proud I didn’t and toughed it out.”
