London City Lionesses have completed the signing of Watford defender Corinne Henson on an 18-month deal.

The Pride announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website this evening.

The 22-year-old arrives at Princes Park with plenty of Barclays Women’s Championship experience under her belt. Despite her young age, Henson has played 38 times in English football’s second tier, scoring one goal. The player has enjoyed two spells with Watford, either side of a season-long stay at Charlton Athletic.

Henson is one of the Barclays Women’s Championship’s up and coming talents and she will now hope to take another step forward in her career with London City Lionesses.

After joining The Pride, Henson said “It’s been really good to join the group and meet all of the girls. The longer term vision of the Club and the work that is happening behind the scenes is really exciting and creates a brilliant opportunity for me to show what I can do in the Championship.

“I have played in lots of different positions, but I’m now mainly a centre-back. I’m a technical player on the ball and I like to defend. There is a lot of work for us to do in the second half of the season and it’s important that we win as many games as possible.”

Henson becomes London City Lionesses’ first signing of the January transfer window.
